Daniel Kronenfeld is currently an analyst in the political and economic section at the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. From 2003 to 2006 he covered Afghan refugee issues at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. He has also contributed to several Congressional Research Service reports on Afghanistan. His research interests include ethnicity, migration, and identity, and he has published on post-Soviet ethnic relations. He received his PhD in political science at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2003.
