Amb. Rustam Mohmand holds a BA in English and pursued further studies in public finance, public administration, development economics, and law. He joined the civil service of Pakistan in 1968 and worked as Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Political Agent, Deputy Commissioner, Political Agent of Khyber, South Waziristan, Commissioner of Tribal Areas, Commissioner of Afghan Refugees, Home and Tribal Affairs Secretary of Frontier Province, Chief Secretary Frontier, and Ambassador to Afghanistan (2002 to 2005). Currently, he is working as a consultant to UNHCR, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is also the Chairman of the Paraplegic Center and on board of directors of several charities. He is the Director of the Institute of Policy Studies. Amb. Mohmand is a regular contributor to newspapers and the media on Pakistan-related issues.
